Troy Makaza's surrealist works are woven from painted silicone strings. Thus creating strange silicone works inhabiting the visual space located at the crossroads of painting and sculpture.
Like the threads of a spider's web, the brightly coloured silicone strings, Troy Makaza examines the fluidity of relationships and the flows between the sexes in a macroscopic way in today's Zimbabwe. The twisted strands tied together construct powerful metaphors of social and intimate spaces, where traditional roles are no longer assured and which do not always accommodate free will.
