Kotarman, Microcosmos II, 2018
He documents the notions he explores, thus producing mental representations of the visual territories he created. Many of his videos are linked to sound creations and exhale a quasi schizophrenic dimension of the thematics he deals with : identity, memory, religion, politics.
Dimitri Fagbohoun was born in 1972 from a Beninese father and an Ukrainian mother, in Cotonou, Benin. Being raised in Cameroon before settling in France, where he lives and works now, the thematics and questions he raises are reflecting his course and history, between geographic and artistic borders. His work is then inseparable of his own life experience and of his plural identity.
Protean, through the heterogeneous forms he uses, video, photography, installation, he expresses a relationship to identities and history in which his writing disturbs the models that constitute them. This tension results in the emergence of other visions and new forms. Conceiving his artistic work as a field of propositions, his use of video, between essay and cinematographic object, oscillates at the limits of cinema and plastic arts. His work is thus inseparable from his own experience, his plural identity.

Galerie Cécile Fakhoury
Galerie Cécile Fakhoury opened its doors in Abidjan, Ivory Coast in September 2012. In May, 2018 the gallery inaugurated second space in Dakar, Senegal and a showroom in Paris in France.
The gallery aims at promoting contemporary art in Africa. It offers visibility to creativity and contemporary artistic diversity in Africa through its programming of solo shows and group exhibitions, participation in international art fairs and biennales, and through its collaboration with foreign galleries.
Strongly rooted in their respective identities and stories, the artists represented by the gallery distinguish themselves through the use of a language that abolishes barriers and rejects geographical stigmatisation. Observers of a world they live in, these artists take an enlightened and critical look at our society. The diversity of their aesthetic gestures, committed positions to grab the complexity of History, participates in the writing of a living memory and asks us to reconsider our own relation to the world.
